Re-waxing or Re-proofing Your Canvas Bag
We highly recommend you have your bag re-waxed once a year in order for to retain maximun waterproofing and stain resitance!
Step 1. Clean your bag.
Clean the bag using cold water and a sponge to wipe down the outside of the bag . Avoid using hot water, any kind of harsh soap and NEVER put the bag in the washing machine, as this will remove the wax coating permanently and the bag cannot be rewaxed.
Step 2. Soften the wax.
If you a using wax in a tin, use an old cloth or sponge to apply. If you are using a bar then you can apply by rubbing the bar on the surface. Warm up the surface of the canvas with a blow dryer - this will help the wax spread more smoothly. You can re-wax the entire surface of the bag, or just focus on areas like seams, creases, and high-flex areas. Rub the wax on the canvas like a bar of soap, using broad, even strokes. The pressure and friction will warm up the wax, making it easier to spread and transfer to the fabric.
Step 4. Dry your jacket.
To ensure you get an extra smooth finish, blow over with a hair dryer to even the spread of wax.
Step 5. Re-wax your Bag once a year.
Once you’ve re-waxed the jacket, hang it up. Allow to dry overnight in a warm place away from other garments.
